I was looking for an apartment, and from the reviews and responses I received (and I didnt get that many responses), UMoveFree looked the best. And the agent, Dave Edwards, also told me I would receive a $200.00 moving credit after I moved.
During my two months of looking at apartments and emailing the UMoveFree agent I was dealing with, he kept reminding me that I needed to be SURE and put his name and company on my paperwork/lease when I finally chose an apartment, so I could get my $200.00 moving credit sent to me.
I dont know how many times that he told me to remember to put his name and the companies name on my paperwork, so I would be sure to get my $200.00.
Nothing was ever said to me about anything else regarding the moving credit, other than to get my $200.00 from them, I had to put the agents name and the companies name on my paperwork/lease. No other amount was ever mentioned for a moving credit, only the $200.00!
Also during this time, he kept asking me if I found anything yet, or if he could help, and that if I did find an apartment I liked, he could find a better deal for me than the advertised price on the internet.
I did find one initial apartment, but the rate was a bit over my limit, so I emailed the agent. I got an emailed response of "we dont do that"! I dont like to be lied too, so I just went about this on my own. I figured I at least can get the $200.00 for the time I have had to deal with them, and apparently was being "strung along" for some reason, and they had no intention of really helping me.
So, on my own, I find an apartment I like. I go ahead and place the agents and companies name on my lease and get the apartment. After I moved in, I notified the agent that I had moved and placed his name on my lease as the referral.
He asked for my new informtion and address, and I emailed it to him.
I received a reply email that my $50.00 moving credit was ready for me to claim.
$50.00!
What happened to truth in advertising? I thought it was illegal for companies to lie like this.
I will steer clear anyone seeking help for an apartment locator service from this company. And I would advise anyone reading this to think twice about using this company.
