RE: Company manager threatening to charge above contracted cost
|
On 03/19/14 I solicited home cleaning services from Maid in California. I spoke with Ramona, a CSR and we agreed to have Ms. Maria clean my home on 03/20/14. The agreed terms were their standard rates of $35 per hour for up to two hours for first time customers. We agreed that once Maria arrived at my home she would inspect my home and I would be contacted if the cleaning service was to cost more than the agreed upon price of $70. Any cost above what we agreed would have to be confirmed before the cleaning service was to begin. I confirmed with Ramona that I would be notified if the cost would be more than $70. I was not notified of any changes in cost and my home was cleaned on 03/20/14. I called Maid in California on 03/25/14 because my credit card had not been charged for the services. Ramona notified me that the company had not yet received the fee information from Maria although it had been 6 days thereafter. Ramona assured me she would contact me as soon as she could get a hold of Maria. A Few hours later, Ramona contacted me and said that she would have to charge me for 2.5 hours of cleaning instead of the agreed upon price. I was not happy about this as I was not notified and did not agree to this. I told Ramona I would pay the initial fee we agreed on and not any more since I was not ultimately notified and the extra cost was not agreed upon. She referred me to the manager, Debbie whom insisted I pay the extra fee and said she would speak to Maria and get back to me. I also noted to Debbie that the cleaning of my home was mediocre at best and I was also not satisfied with the cleaning service, considering Maria cleaned for 2.5 hours. My home is 700 sq feet, no room cleaning required. Two examples I gave Debbie regarding the cleaning were: -Maria did not bother to remove my shampoo & conditioner bottles from the shower before cleaning it. The bottles were not removed, they were left untouched and the shower surface beneath them was not cleaned, which is a very standard cleaning procedure. -Maria did not dust properly. Every corner of my home still remained dusty and she did not even lift my computer power cords to dust underneath them, she simply dusted around them. My living room remained as dusty as I left it for her to clean. Debbie contacted me the same day, and left a voicemail stating said she would have Maria drive back to my place and re-clean the apartment and for me to contact her regarding this offer. At this point, I do not want Maria to come and re-clean my home as she did not do a very good job the first time and I do not want to be subjected to pay a fee that was not agreed upon. Today 04/01/14, I receive a voicemail from Debbie, threatening me to charge my card, without authority, full price for the cleaning services. I do not recommend this company to anyone. I feel very unsafe in my home, having given them my address and I now have to contact my credit card company regarding potential fraudulent charges from them.
