Review 11/27/2010

Back in August 2010 I purchased a textbook through Half.com for a college course. The book arrived promptly, but was the wrong edition. Things happen, and the seller agreed to refund my money. But then he disappeared and would not respond to emails. So eventually I filed a Buyer Protection complaint through the Half.com site, expecting them to help me get a response from the seller and help me get a refund for my purchase price. WRONG. I sent numerous emails to them asking them the status of my complaint. Silence; no response from Half.com. Eventually I got someone to send me an email from Half.com, and they praised me for being such a good buyer/seller (based on my ebay & half.com feedback rating)and I thought maybe a real person would now be helping me. I did exactly what they suggested--didn't contact my credit card company to challenge the payment, returned the items to the address they provided and got delivery confirmation, and by early November I had sent them the delivery confirmation number and again waited for a response from their end. I'm still waiting nearly 30 days later. It is now November 27 and I have returned the book, but have no refund. And Half.com has not contacted me and I have again sent more then 3 emails since the beginning of the month requesting a status update. I am not feeling hopeful and want to warn others that Half.com is NOT protecting buyers from sales that don't turn out the way they should.
