When I clicked on the "read a review" function and saw the two reports listed there, it was deja vu! They were almost identical to my situation. We met United Home Improvement Centers at the OC Fair in Summer 2010. (Note: We should contact the OC Fair people and ask that this vendor not be allowed back to dupe more customers.) We signed a contract on August 7, 2010, for two small replacement awnings and paid a 50% deposit. We had an estimated completion date of August 28th. It is now October 12th and we have only heard from the company when we happen to catch someone answering the phone, which is almost never. One of the only times I reached a person, despite leaving numerous phone messages, he told me he was "busy studying for law school"! I'm a lawyer, and if I conducted my practice as he conducts his business I'd be unemployed. In any case, United came and took our old awnings and metal frames and have not installed the new ones or given us a status update. My search on the Better Business Bureau revealed a whopping 26 complaints in 36 months!!!! I warn everyone against doing business with this company.
